"First I would like to give the honor to GOD on this day. For those that may not know me my name is Jarvis Banks. Pastor Eugene and I have been friends for over 30 years and he is such a great person. I would like to share my testimony with you guys. For 40 years of my life I was a very healthy man despite being a heavy sized person I had no medical issues (high blood pressure, cholesterol, and/or diabetes) etc. On September 17,2022 I woke up as usual and got ready for work with no problems. See on Saturdays I normally worked in an empty building and this day was no exception. I was excited about that day because the wife and I had a date planned for later in the day. I remember my wife calling me and talking to me for about 20 minutes and that’s the last thing I can remember. My wife noticed the slurred speech and called 911 immediately. I who was the healthiest in my house was having a STROKE. I was bleeding on my brain (prior to the stroke), unable to talk, unable to walk, and couldn’t remember anything. The one thing I do remember is the few people that came to visit me and one of those people was Pastor Charlot. He grabbed my hand and PRAYED over me and I felt the presence of GOD with us in that ICU. I’m so ever grateful to be where I am today. It’s now April 2025 and I’m still here GOD BE THE GLORY because a lot of people are not able to say the same. I still have my struggles with a lot of things but being alive and able to tell people how GOD was there with me and how grateful I am each and every day is something I will never get tired of. Thank you Jesus Christ"
I eventually made the decision to move out of state to help myself. There was no possible way for me to heal in the environment that hurt me. In the year of 2024 I began to heal! My mind body and soul began to come back to life due to God. People like Nena were put in my life, substances were removed, my therapist from years ago was able to help me, etc. I began to really build my relationship with God.
Things really became clear in 2025. God said “ Im about to mic drop on you Brittney”. Due to my traumatic childhood; I struggle a lot with self love and worth. It was my biggest downfall. In Jan. 2025 I became involved with a guy who I gave so much of myself to ,only for him to ghost me.
Then in April I asked for my job to move me back to my previous role because the role I was in was not working and they said no. After years of giving them my all, they didnt even want to consider the option. In fact, they told me that I need to raise my numbers in a few days ( which was impossible. No one could do what they were asking) or I was fired. So, I quit.
Then 2 weeks after that I found out that my roommate had been taking advantage of me financially for a year and a ½. I mean I was paying this girl thousands of dollars a month only to find out she was trying to get more money from me. I mean, I raised this girl's kids, cleaned for her and even took care of her because she has fibromyalgia.
I then began to dig into other financial things and thats when I found out that she doesn't pay her mortgage her parents do, that the work that I was doing with the girls does not equal the “discount” she was giving me on rent and the list went on and on! I felt so stupid that I believed her because I did everything because I loved her and her kids. All the while, she was just using that love to get what she wanted.
My mom was like “ GIrl heck no! Pack your stuff and you can come stay with me in Texas”. Now this was huge because my mom and I just started to get along after the healing. I have asked to stay with her for years ( to get myself together) and she always said no while letting my big brother stay with her since he was 20 ( he is now 40). So this was a big deal!. I packed my stuff while my roommate was gone and left.
While I was in the airport I thought about going back. I was thinking about the kids. While I was crying in the cafe, a random man came up to me and hugged me and told me God said it's going to be alright. I cried my eyes out but it made me feel better.
Then not 20 min later I was sitting at my gate ( not crying) when a woman came up to me and said “ For some reason God is telling me to tell you it's going to be ok “. I burst into tears AGAIN!. It was like God was telling me not to go back and that this chapter was over.
Then I realized that the back to back incidents with the guy, my job and my roommate was God showing me that I need to protect my love. He showed me that not everyone is worth my love and although I have so much to give; I should give it to those who deserve it. I need to protect myself . It was the most illuminating revelation I have ever had.
I just started crying and thanking God and started to see God EVERYWHERE!
The entire situation was a blessing. We have to go through the pain to become better versions of ourselves. My dad used to tell me alllllllll of the time “ Where in the bible does it say you won't suffer?? If anything it says you are GOING to suffer! But that's why you lean and put your trust in God”. Hes been telling me that since I was kid and now I get it!
And here's the kicker with the IRS taxes, my roommate made threats to me if I didn't give her the $13,000 and refused my $5,000 offer so I refiled my taxes and took the kids off and guess how much Im getting back !!!!! $5,000!!!!!! God took care of me anyways!
Everything is clear now and I thank God everyday for being there with me, not giving up on me, the people he has placed in my life, the things he's doing for me, the love that he gives, the pain he has healed, and more. They ain't lying when they say “ God is GREAT and God is GOOD”
